Webster's dictionary specifies courage while " mental or meaningful strength to venture, persevere, and tolerate danger, fear, or problems. He understood that taking the circumstance would make him an object of scorn and ridicule. That no one would forgive him for believing in a black man's word rather than a white-colored man's. Possibly his own sister communicates disapproval of his decision, practically showing him having been bringing shame on the friends and family.
