Abstract

Reasonable Trade attempts to address the poverty concerns of tiny Southern suppliers through the repayment of a ‘fair price' for their goods plus the provision of support services for maker organisations. Though Fair Control is overwhelmingly identified while using ‘fair price' paid by participating importers and potential buyers, sketching the possible techniques of effect reveal that lots of of the associated with Fair Trade on the quality of life of suppliers are felt through the organisational development supported by Fair Control organisations. This study looks at the impact of 10 years of Fair Trade in coffee in Costa Rica and discloses the importance of organisational creation support pertaining to the stakeholders of the eight Costa Rican coffee co-operatives.

This kind of study used a series of assessments commissioned by the Fair Control Labelling Organisations (FLO) around the impact of fairly bought and sold coffee in five countries: Tanzania, Republic of bolivia, Peru, Mexico and Nicaragua (Schurmann and van Driel 1999). This current work is comparable in emphasis to these research, but was carried out independently from.

Subsequent to a basic write-up with the study benefits, a feedback workshop was held in 2001 in Costa Rica with staff from each one of the co-operative associates of CoocafГ©, to include their perspectives and reflections for the study's effects. This file presents the end result of that two-year process of discovering...
