What Is A Lesson Plan?

There exists some misunderstandings about what a lesson plan* is and is not. A worksheet is definitely not a lessons plan. A handout is not a lessons plan. A classroom game or activity is not just a lesson program. In fact , it is not necessary for a lessons plan to ever be seen, touched, considered or dreamed of by students, and nor would it even need to exist on paper or hard drive, though this usually really does. A lessons plan is a teacher's cover teaching a lesson. It might exist in the teacher's brain, on the back side of an cover, or on one or more attractively formatted sheets of A4 paper. It is purpose is to outline the " programme" for a single lesson. Therefore it's known as lesson strategy. It helps the teacher in both planning and carrying out the lesson. And it will help the students, unbeknownst to them, by ensuring that they can receive a real lesson with a beginning, a middle and an end, that aims to help them learn some specific factor that they did not know at the beginning of the lesson (or practise and generate progress in that specific thing). To summarize, and in very basic conditions: a lessons plan is a teacher's guide for running a particular lessons, and it includes the goal (what the students are supposed to learn), how the objective will be reached (the method, procedure) and a way of measuring how well the goal was come to (test, worksheet, homework etc). The illustrations (right) present a fairly official handwritten lessons plan and a back-of-the-envelope lesson arrange for the same lessons -- a 45-minute lesson on the Future Continuous. The first lessons plan indicates the time in less than 10 minutes to be spent on each activity and whether the (inter)action is usually teacher-student, pupil only or student-student (left-hand column) and materials being prepared/used (right-hand column). The back-of-the-envelope lessons plan is definitely clearly by simply someone who has performed this lessons many times ahead of and features simply scribbled a brief reminder of main aspects of the lesson. Quite a few are cases only. There are numerous ways...
