Modern Society's Happiness… Genuine or Not?

Modern-day society can be not at the same extent of totalitarianism through science and technology since the one represented in the book Brave " new world " by Aldous Huxley. The utopian society which is placed in A. F. 632 involves a world through which pleasure and the pursuit of happiness are the crucial aspects in each characters everyday life. This is certainly achieved by the scientific and technological developments in Courageous New World. The government's way of control should be to ensure happiness through prescription drugs, stability by controlling the classes of people through what the publication refers to as the " Bokanovsky Process, ” and delight being obtained through the cheapening of moral entertainment. In today's world, the desire to attain these things are attempted, but not to the level of the residents in the story. Although the way in which we do achieve pleasure and delight is different between our modern-day society and the novel, we are becoming closer to to the express of civilization depicted in Brave " new world ".

Pleasure is among the key elements in the civilization illustrated by Aldous Huxley. Pleasure is usually reached by using a drug named soma. To be able to maintain the leveling of society, soma can be used to control and take away thoughts of depressive disorder, anxiety, and also other undesirable feelings. Through the advancements of technology, they enhanced this drug to such an extent that after an individual administers that to themselves, no thoughts of a " hangover” happen to be left.
