The short story " A Man Who had been Almost A Man” by Richard Wright is about a young man named Dave who have struggles with being able to increase up and be a man. Sawzag has a hard time growing up and becoming a guy because of his mother great father. His mother knows that he is not totally prepared to carry out the task that a man would have to perform thus she maintains him sheltered. Dave thinks that if he gets a gun the will be recognized as a man. Dave has the idea of being a person misconstrued. Dave's lies illustrate to the people about him that he is in fact not well prepared for the responsibilities of member. Throughout the history, Dave attempts to flip the fact in his favor so that he can buy the gun, simply by telling his mother that it was his father. for example , this individual convinces his mother to offer his two dollars to obtain the firearm. He will not follow through on his promise to his mom to give her the firearm after he bought it. Instead he continuing to rest. Like a kid, he fails to realize that lying won't protect him nevertheless only take more challenges. Being a person is certainly not about identification or electric power, but it is about setting specifications and really fulfilling life's expectations.

This kind of short tale has two major styles. The initial theme i would like to evaluate is the look for power. Dork feels like he is trapped in a society that takes his personal and economic power from him. He perceives his lifestyle as abused and embarrassed. He is forced to obey his parents, work as a field employee who never receives his pay, and the other field workers constantly ridicule him. The feeling penalized degraded by simply his ethnical society came up form the several forces that keep him from reaching his goals and pursuing his dreams. The idea of having a gun can be described as way for Dave to become macho and highly effective quickly. He feels that having a gun in his palm with provide him power and control over others.
